Actor Model of Computation: Scalable Robust Information Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
The Actor Model can be used as a framework for modeling, understanding, and reasoning about, a wide range of concurrent systems. For example: Electronic mail (e-mail) can be modeled as an Actor system. Mail accounts are modeled as Actors and email addresses as Actor addresses. Web Services can be modeled with endpoints modeled as Actor addresses. Objects with locks (e.g. as in Java and C#) can be modeled as Actors. Functional and Logic programs can be implemented using Actors.

Dynamic configuration and collaborative scheduling in supply chains based on scalable multi-agent architecture
Due to diversified and frequently changing demands from customers, technological advances and global competition, manufacturers rely on collaboration with their business partners to share costs, risks and expertise. How to take advantage of advancement of technologies to effectively support operations and create competitive advantage is critical for manufacturers to survive. To respond to these...
متن کاملSupporting Relative Location Constraints in Actor Systems
The Actor model supports mobility of computations, and in actor migrations, absolute destinations must be explicitly specified. However, in many real world applications, relative location relationships are more meaningful. In this paper, we propose a middleware which supports relative location constraints of actors. We use a case study to illustrate that our middleware greatly enhances the flex...
متن کاملFormalizing common sense for scalable inconsistency-robust information integration using Direct Logic(TM) reasoning and the Actor Model
People use common sense in their interactions with large information systems. This common sense needs to be formalized so that it can be used by computer systems. Unfortunately, previous formalizations have been inadequate. For example, classical logic is not safe for use with pervasively inconsistent information. The goal is to develop a standard foundation for reasoning in large-scale Interne...
متن کاملIntelligent scalable image watermarking robust against progressive DWT-based compression using genetic algorithms
Image watermarking refers to the process of embedding an authentication message, called watermark, into the host image to uniquely identify the ownership. In this paper a novel, intelligent, scalable, robust wavelet-based watermarking approach is proposed. The proposed approach employs a genetic algorithm to find nearly optimal positions to insert watermark. The embedding positions coded as chr...

MODELS FOR COMPUTATION model of distributed systems and its specification and proof techniques. In Sec. 4 we introduce the simple example of an air line reservation system and illustrate our specification and proof techniques by this example in the subsequent sections. Then we discuss our further work. 2. A MODEL OF DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS The actor model of computation (Grief and Hewitt 1975, Grie...
